Nationally Recognised Training

During this full day of interactive class activities; we cover in-depth the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. First Aid Course – HLTAID011 Provide first aid, the training is relevant for all people who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings. It meets the requirements of a ‘senior first aider’ and incorporates hands on CPR demonstrations on both adults and infants with and without the use of a pocket mask. It also covers asthma attack management, anaphylaxis treatment and basic life support techniques. This certificate has 3 year validity.

There is no pre-requisite required for this session.

  • Responding to an emergency situation
  • Applying appropriate first aid procedures
  • Communication and reviewing details of an incident
  • DRS ABCD
  • Performing CPR procedures on an adult and infant manikin
  • Understanding use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Pocket mask training
  • Allergy and anaphylaxis
  • Asthma, breathing conditions and choking
  • Bleeding management and wound care
  • Envenomation
  • Fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains
  • Burns
  • Cardiac conditions
  • Diabetes
  • Drowning
  • Eye injuries
  • Hypothermia and hyperthermia
  • Head, neck and spinal injuries
  • Seizures, shock & stroke
  • Poisoning, substance misuse and sharps injuries – common drugs, alcohol, including illicit drugs
  • Legal and ethical considerations including infection control, privacy, duty of care and consent
  • Awareness of stress management techniques
Assessment Methods
  • Practical demonstrations including CPR
  • Written questions
  • Interactive simulations

There is no pre-requisite training required for any of these certifications; all learning & assessment is conducted on the day.

Course Duration & Enrolment Fees

Course duration: 1 x 8 hour workshop (one day).

Certification

Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be issued with a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for:

  • HLTAID011 Provide First Aid; and
  • HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Public classes are held weekly on the Central Coast NSW in Wyong or alternatively we can arrange to visit your workplace for private group sessions, in the areas of the Central Coast, Newcastle and Sydney.
