This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. It is likely that these individuals are establishing their own work performance.

Individuals in these roles carry out a range of routine procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require technology and business skills. They apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

The Certificate III In Business may be completed through a Smart and Skilled Traineeship / Entitlement pathway, VET in Schools (SBAT or EVET pathway) or a Fee for Service enrolment.

Working in a Business environment can be an incredibly rewarding career with a wide range of advancement and specialisation opportunities.

People who successfully complete this course may choose to continue their studies by completing a higher qualification in Business or Leadership and Management. People may also choose to continue on to university to complete a Bachelor of Business.

As much of the skills and knowledge that you will learn through a career in Business are transferrable, this is a great industry for those considering a future career in administrative, customer engagement, medical or records.

Traineeship

A traineeship combines on-the-job work and formal training with a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to obtain a nationally recognised qualification. Traineeships can be undertaken by fulltime and part-time employees and may attract government subsidies based on eligibility criteria.

VET in Schools Pathways

Vocational Education Training courses (VET Courses) provide an opportunity to achieve a Nationally Recognised qualification or statement of attainment across a broad range of industries, whilst completing your Higher School Certificate. Both VET in Schools options offer direct pathways to further education employment for students, as well as provide a number of benefits to Stage 6 students; however it is important to know the difference between them so that you can chose the right program for you.

The School Based Traineeship (SBAT) program combines paid work, school and a VET qualification, assisting you to gain valuable work skills and experience while you are studying. Instead of completing work placement in blocks, an SBAT completes one day a week in paid employment with their employer in their chosen industry.

Delivery Pathways

Traineeships

This pathway is for learners undertaking study as part of a signed training contract with their Employer and includes planned site visits.

Work-based

This pathway is for learners employed within the industry and undertaking study with employer support outside of a traineeship.

Classroom delivery

Learning occurs through face-to-face or virtual sessions including weekday, evening and Saturday sessions.

Blended delivery

Learning occurs through a combination of classroom sessions, work-based, virtual and/or distance delivery.
