ABOUT THE QUALIFICATION
CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care
Enrol in a nationally recognised qualification that equips you to design and deliver rich, play-based curriculum supporting children’s holistic learning, development and wellbeing. You’ll develop the skills to nurture creativity, embed inclusive practices, build respectful relationships with children and colleagues, and strong partnerships with families, grounded in contemporary theory and best practice.
As a Diploma-qualified Educator, you’ll be confident to lead educational programs, mentor colleagues, and support children in meaningful and responsive ways. This qualification can open pathways to higher-responsibility roles, enabling you to move beyond day-to-day education and care to contributing to the overall learning environment and service operations.
Early childhood educators work in long day care centres, family day care, pre-schools or kindergartens.
To achieve this qualification, the individual must have completed a total of at least 280 hours of work in a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia as detailed in the Assessment Requirements of units of competency. The total number of hours may be applied collectively across all units of competency that include the requirement for workplace hours.

Entry requirements
Entry to the CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification is open to individuals who hold:
- CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
- CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Alternatively, individuals may hold:
- An Australian diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care OR
- An Australian diploma or certificate III in Children’s Services AND
- Demonstrate at least 12 months of cumulative employment (full-time equivalent) within the last 5 years in a regulated education and care service in Australia, supported by verifiable evidence OR
- Hold the CHCSS00147 Entry into Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.

The CHC50125 Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care qualification includes 15 units of competency: 12 core units and 3 elective units.
CHCECE041 Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children
The unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge to monitor and maintain health and safety in the areas of individual health, hygiene, infectious disease, supervision, risk management, incident and emergency management. It includes the ability to contribute to the ongoing improvement of workplace health and safety policies and procedures.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research, develop and implement new policy initiatives.
CHCECE047 Analyse information to inform children's learning
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to gather and analyse information about children’s learning to inform practice.
CHCECE042 Foster holistic early childhood learning, development and wellbeing
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to foster and enhance the holistic learning, development and wellbeing of children from birth to six years of age. It includes the ability to use detailed knowledge of different developmental domains and developmental theory and how these domains link to support holistic development.
CHCECE043 Nurture creativity in children
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and evaluate experiences that nurture creativity in children through construction, digital technologies, dramatic play, imaginative play, movement, music and visual art.
CHCECE045 Foster positive and respectful interactions and behaviour in children
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop guidelines that foster positive and respectful interactions and behaviour, and to monitor and support children’s learning, development and wellbeing in this area.
CHCECE046 Implement strategies for the inclusion of all children
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to promote inclusion and diversity and to plan, implement and monitor individual support strategies.
CHCECE050 Work in partnership with children's families
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to establish relationships with families, connect with the local and broader community and promote opportunities for collaboration and sharing of information with families to support effective education and care for children.
CHCECE052 Plan service and supports for children and families
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to explore the needs of children and families experiencing complex challenges and to plan and review services and supports in collaboration with families and with other service providers as required.
CHCECE048 Plan and implement children's education and care curriculum
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to plan, implement and evaluate curriculum over a period of time to foster children’s learning and development.
CHCECE049 Embed environmental responsibility in service operations
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to develop, implement and evaluate a sustainability management plan and support children’s environmental responsibility.
CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to research information about compliance and ethical practice responsibilities, and then develop and monitor policies and procedures to meet those responsibilities.
CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to evaluate and enhance own practice through a process of reflection and ongoing professional development.
CHCECE044 Facilitate compliance in a children's education and care service
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to facilitate legislative, regulatory and National Quality Framework compliance in an education and care service.

All course fees are determined by individual eligibility, and availability of Government-subsidised training pathways. You can check your eligibility through our Student Enquiry Form or, if you proceed straight to enrolment, your course fee will be provided to you before we accept your enrolment. All enrolments require a $300 initial payment (this is taken off the total course fee) which is payable within 3 weeks from the acceptance of enrolment. For all remaining fees payable, we offer flexible direct debit payment plan options.
